Casual Workday
It only takes a moment to do a style shot, but lately I’ve found myself with none to spare. Since graduating and starting work it’s been a struggle for me to balance work with play, and what little extra time I have left over I have to somehow divide between personal time for myself, family time, and blogging.
Nevertheless, it occurred to me to start taking style shots in the morning, right before heading off to work. My clothes are still unwrinkled, my makeup still fresh, and living at home has it’s perks — my mom and dad make for the perfect photographers. Hopefully, picking up this new morning ritual will make up for my lag in style shots as of late.
Forgive my less-than-enthused expression. I’m not a morning person. At all.
I have the luxury of working at a museum, meaning more freedom to wear what I want. On days that I’m feeling particularly inspired, I can wear chiffon maxi dresses or pencil skirts and heels, and on days I’m feeling particularly “blah,” I can pull on a pair of jeans and a t-shirt.
This look here is a typical casual work look for me — high-waist Calvin Klein stretch skinny jeans paired with a tucked in vintage silk blouse. I paired this outfit with some modest canvas espadrilles from F21 (I’ve worn these shoes to death, so thank goodness summer is almost over), a thrifted messenger bag from Unique, and Miu Miu sunglasses. I accessorized with a vintage bangle and silver and jade ring, a handmade silver dragon-scale bracelet from a craft fair, funky cocktail rings from F21, and a Rusted Revolution chain link choker.
Have a happy humpday!
Lesley
