It’s All in the Details – Pick of the Week!

The BC Sartorialist and I were in unanimous agreement when it came to choosing the BCxRR Pick of the Week- Giuliana Zaccardelli. I met this lovely lady during my Freshman Orientation, as we shared the same suite in Vanderslice Hall. She makes a strong first impression with her fun, bright clothes and neatly bobbed haircut. I was happy to see her featured as one of the most stylish students on campus by the BC Sartorialist.

GIULIANA

Alex gave Giuliana a “thumbs up” for her outfit. He specifically described how he liked her “cool look with the dress and the leather jacket and the snakeskin shoes and that belt.” Alex is expressing a belief that it is not just about the clothes you wear. It’s about how you “put together” the outfit. I love Giuliana’s outfit because of the unexpected combination- the colorful pattern of her dress, the contrastingly tough leather jacket, the simple belt, the wild snakeskin shoes, and the bold brass earrings. All these details – plus Giuliana’s confident smile that prove she knows she really does look as good as we think she does – all work in harmony to create an eclectic and attention-grabbing look.

Because I have met Giuliana before, I reached out to her to get some more details about her wardrobe choices and her general opinions of Boston College style. Read the question and answer section below!

Where are all of the elements of your outfit from?

My sunglasses are Ray Bans, my backpack and my dress are from Urban Outfitters, and my shoes are from Vince Camuto. The belt was actually a gift from my mom (she has great taste), and I got my earrings in Spain. Funny story about the jacket….it was a trinket from a few weekends ago.

What influences how you dress each day?

Mostly the weather–when it’s nice out, I’m more motivated to dress up!

How would you define the style at BC?

Most people say BC is pretty preppy–but there are a lot of kids who don’t fall into that stereotype. I notice that a lot of people put their own spin on the classic “preppy” look.

What are your favorite places to shop – both in and out of Boston?

It depends on what I’m looking for. A lot of times I’ll go to Urban Outfitters or even Forever 21 for trendier pieces–I’ve found that if you dig through the racks, you can find a lot of cool stuff that’s not super expensive. For clothes that I want to last a while, I tend to go to higher-end department stores: I know the quality is good and it’s worth the money when I’m going to be wearing it often and for years! Plus, they have a huge selection, which is good for me because my style is kind of a blend of everything.

^ (We couldn’t agree more!)
